Go to Settings

Click Network Settings

Click Internet Connection Settings

The system will ask you specifically, “If you perform internet connection settings, the system will be disconnected. Do you want to continue?” Yes or No (This is basically if you already have a playstation network account while you are making changes you will be automatically signed out)
It will ask you to select a connection method Wired or Wireless. Most people perhaps have wireless internet in their homes so if you choose wireless you will go to the next screen.

Next you will go to the WLAN Settings where you have the option to select Scan, Enter Manually, or Automatic. If you select Scan at the bottom of the screen you will notice the prompt ,”The PS3 system will scan for the SSID of the access point. Select this option. As it is scanning you will see SCANNING PLEASE WAIT in the middle of your screen indicating the system is scanning for your access point.

Next Screen will say, “select the access point to be used. SSID……..Security………….Signal Strength %” If you already have a wireless internet connection your account will be displayed on the screen. If so you simply just select it. After you make your selection it will confirm your SSID name.
Next screen is WLAN Security Setting where you select your password security setup. (None, WEP, WPA-PSIK (TKIP), or WPA-PSK (AES)

Next screen you type in your secret passcode

You will next see Address Settings giving you the option to select Easy or Custom. Select Easy. You will see checking network configuration….Please wait while its checking.

Next screen asks you to press the X button to save settings: The screen gives you a summary of your selections under Settings List. Hit enter to save.
Next screen shows save completed and begins to test connection.

After test connection is complete this screen will show connecting to the access point and start test all your connections. If your connections are correct you will see succeeded show in each setting.

After the test connection is finished and you move to the final screen just click back and go sign in.
